The rugged splendour of the famous 12 Apostles, magnificent rock stacks that rise up majestically from the Southern Ocean on Victoria's dramatic coastline.

Created by constant erosion of the limestone cliffs of the mainland beginning 10-20 million years ago, the stormy Southern Ocean and blasting winds gradually eroded the softer limestone, forming caves in the cliffs. The caves eventually became arches and when they collapsed rock stacks up to 45 metres high were left isolated from the shore. The 12 Apostles change colour from dark and foreboding in shadow at sunrise to brilliant sandy yellow under a full sun as captured here from the lookout along the Great Ocean Road, in the Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia.

Currently working with independent schools in Tasmania. Advocate for e-learning and collaborative projects. Previously long corporate and management consulting career. Love most music: opera, classical, jazz, fado, soft rock and country & western etc. Like photography, golf, singing, cooking, reading, rugby, Australian Football, theatre, ballet and travel. Took up digital photography in 2010 starting with Panasonic Lumix point and shoot..In June 2011 purchased my first DSLR, a Pentax k-r so I could use my old 100-300 lens. Replaced with with Pentax k-30 and now also shooting with Panasonic Lumix DMC-F2500 travel camera with 24-480mm...
